We have an exciting Part-time Community Support Worker (Mental Health Drug & Alcohol) opportunity available in Western NSW local health district -Bathurst MHDA, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Day Programs will be based in hospital grounds of Dubbo and Bathurst of WNSWLHD. Each unit offers services providing support to people who are living in the community who require short term support and intensive clinical treatment and intervention with an aim is to prevent further deterioration or relapse which may lead to an inpatient hospital admission in a declared facility.
Services delivered in the day programs will focus on collaboration between clinical services and community support sector, consist primarily of guided treatment and recovery focused care, supporting people to reach their potential via day programs.
This position involves a rotating roster, between Monday to Sunday and you will need to be available to work flexible shifts that may include a combination of day programs. Based in Bathurst, you will report to the Team Leader in our Inclusion Team.
Key responsibilities Provide psycho-social support services which focuses on client – determination, empowerment, hope and belief that recovery from an addiction is possible Liaise and collaborate with customers, families and with community mental health staff around clinical goals set with customer. Comprehensive understanding of person-centered services on a range of contemporary, multidisciplinary mental health interventions, programs, services, and treatments informed by evidenced based practice. Supporting customers to explore their practical and complex needs with demonstrated ability to engage, interact and work. Observe and accurately record the customer's behaviors, needs and interaction with others using online systems. Complete comprehensive risk management plans for customers with an understanding of the Recovery Framework and underlying principles Developing and maintaining professional relationships and networks with customers, families, caregivers, and key stakeholders.
Skill and Experience Experience working with people with alcohol and drug addiction Knowledge of mental illness; preferable with experience working with people with complex mental illness You are experienced in the disability sector with an understanding of recovery recovery-orientated approach and have ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds You'll also need Technical literacy with proven ability to use Microsoft Office and systems for reporting Minimum Cert IV in Mental Health, or AOD or community related studies Availability to work across a rotating roster Valid NSW Drivers C class licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence class, including large cars and vans. First Aid Certificate Beneficial to have Mental Health First-Aid Certificate Willingness to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC, NDIS Worker Check that meet New Horizons employment criteria prior to commencing with us.
