Opportunity A Community Support Worker plays an integral role in helping people with disabilities thrive by supporting them to achieve their goals in dynamic environments outside of their everyday routine. As part of our Community Connect team, you will encourage our customers to engage with their community in any way that they choose, empowering them to build independent skills. As relief supports, you will experience working in different houses with various customers.
This opportunity is a permanent part-time position with minimum guaranteed hours and the possibility to increase.
About the Role As a Community Support Officer, you will:
Accompany and support customers in a varied range of social activities such as going out for lunch/coffee, grocery shopping, classes, movies, or appointments (including hydrotherapy and swimming).Promote participation and social connection with customer's family and friends, with a focus on maximising engagement and advocating for our customers.Support customers with their daily living needs, such as personal care, domestic tasks, meal planning and personal administration (e.g. shopping, banking, paying bills).Undertake writing of reports, shifts notes, travel records and incident reports.Be confident in driving both modified accessible vans and your own personal vehicle to transport customers.About You Committed to supporting our customers' needs and achieving their potential whilst maintaining a strong focus on customer choice.Well-rounded communication skills that are adaptable to varied personalities and abilities.Experience in working with high-care customers with complex needs is desirable.Willingness to work in different locations within the Perth Metro Area.Must hold a current driver's licence.Access to your own reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance.Willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance no older than 6 months, NDIS Worker's Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening check, Current First Aid Training Certificate (HLTAID011 minimum), and proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations.A Certificate III or IV in a caring discipline is desirable.Availability Requirements As most of our shifts are on weekdays, we are looking for availability from Mon-Fri 8AM to 6PM.Entitled to full working rights in Australia.Benefits Being part of Ability WA includes some great benefits:
