Community Solicitor Organisation The Darwin Community Legal Service (DCLS) is a community-based organisation dedicated to legal and social justice and the protection of human rights in the Northern Territory. Since 1991, DCLS has provided free legal assistance, support, and advocacy for people facing disadvantage. Their services, covering areas such as tenancy, seniors' rights, and general civil legal matters, enables DCLS to provide integrated support to their clients across Darwin, the Top End, and throughout the Territory.

Specifically, you will:
Maintain a caseload of complex legal mattersConduct litigation files and participate in dispute resolutionCoordinate and deliver legal education, information and outreach services to the communityAssist and contribute to law reform and funding submissionsDevelop and nurture a wide range of stakeholder relationships to deliver outreach services and support referral pathwaysWhat you bring You are a lawyer who is committed to social justice and human rights with relevant experience working in the legal assistance sector or in a law firm. You are empathetic in nature and can communicate information in a sensitive manner when dealing with diverse clients who have disabilities and are from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
You also have:
A practicing certificate in Northern Territory or are willing to obtain oneExcellent written and oral communication skillsA naturally collaborative style and can work well in a team and autonomouslyStrong time management and organisational skillsHighly effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills; an ability to build trust and collaboration with a cross section of the community and sector partnersA current driver's licence and a Northern Territory Ochre Card (or willing to obtain one)If you are passionate about human rights and championing fairness and justice for all, then apply now by submitting your resume and cover letter.
