Source: Jobs Northern Rivers JOB DESCRIPTION As a HammondCare At Home volunteer, you'll spend time with someone in your local community who may be lonely or socially isolated. We're looking for caring individuals who can sit and have a chat, reminisce and talk about topics of interest with elderly people in their own homes. Play card games, watch a movie, have a cuppa, go for a walk outside, or visit your local coffee shop or men's shed group. Our Volunteer Coordinator will spend time with you to understand your interests and background, and they'll work to match you with a client in a nearby area who may share these similar interests.
Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to the client you are matched with.
The Aged Care Volunteers Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is a Federal Government initiative established to promote links between elderly people and their local community.
HammondCare HammondCare is an independent Christian charity, supporting people to live in their homes and maintain their independence. We're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with us to enhance the lives of clients who are living at home.
Commitment Ideally you'll be available one hour each week/fortnight for 6-12 months or longer. We'd be happy to chat with you about a suitable time between the hours of 9am-5pm.
Training Training is provided as well as ongoing support by a local Volunteer Coordinator. We offer an extensive training program so you will be well equipped as a volunteer.
