GAC was established in 1996 following negotiations with Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, to advocate for the collective interests of the Traditional Owners.

THE OPPORTUNITY: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Community Projects Officer is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of community projects (power, water, communications, and community buildings) in Homeland communities.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop knowledge of local communities through community engagement and research.Plan and develop appropriate projects to meet community needs.Create and develop project reports; and collect and analyse data to map outcomes.Maintain records and document all aspects of projects.Develop community profiles including identifying power, water and communications plans and service providers.Prepare and submit proposals, budgets and evaluation reports for all projects.Ensure compliance of community development activities with relevant policies and legislation.ABOUT YOU: Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.Ability to plan and deliver on activities, events, projects.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing remote Aboriginal communities.Ability to travel remotely as required.WHAT WE OFFER: Competitive salary package including the opportunity to salary sacrifice.Work-life balance including flexible working arrangements.Access to Employee Assistance Programme.40-hour work week in return for 6 weeks on Annual leave.Annual shutdown.Opportunities to grow your career including professional development assistance.Friendly team.Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) has an exciting opportunity for a Community Projects Officer to join our team in our Tom Price Office, on a 12-month Fixed-Term contract (with the possibility of extending).
