Our local government client is seeking an experienced Community Grants and Funding Specialist for an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity with plenty of flexibility with hours and working from home.

Title: Community Grants and Funding Specialist

Rate: $50-70 per hour plus Super
Hours: Part-time or full-time (2 days min)
Duration: Initial contract for 3-6 months with possible extension direct with client and/or permanency
Location: Midland (office) or WFH (client is open to different WFH options)

Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)

Role Context:
This position, working closely with Coordinator Place Activation (PA), will ensure City grants & funding is accessible, equitably and fairly distributed and therefore supports a broad range of community initiatives. The position will ensure that the community receives maximum benefit and support when applying for City grants & funding, while meeting Council objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for all City grants & community funding and their end-to-end management including planning & design to review the Funding Framework and associated funding sub-streams and all reporting required against the funding program.
This key specialist role is responsible for developing new and innovative, customer centric tools, systems and processes designed to simplify applications and attract & support funding applicants and accountable for financial process management, budget tracking and statistical analysis.

Duties: Coordinate, manage and report on all non-procurement external City Funding, including Grants; Conditional Grants; and Sponsorship.Adhere to Council Funding Policy & City Management Practice at all times, reporting and also noting any opportunities where the review can further improve outcomes for community and Council.Responsible for the development, review and implementation of systems and processes, aligning to the Council Objectives for the City's Funding Framework & Community Grants Program.Responsible for training all internal & external stakeholders and Agencies involved in referring applicants or distributing funds and City staff engaged in managing or assessing applications.Ability to be customer-centric, creatively solving problems quickly and through the customer's lens.Research, benchmark and advocate for: multi-year funding approaches; grant offerings and or agreements; and activity & event sponsorship to achieve maximum community benefit and support and meet Council objectives.Lead cross-organisational panels to access and approve applications.Conduct annual internal and external evaluations of the City's Funding Framework and recommend opportunities for improvement and provide regular high-level reporting on all grant and funding activities to Management, Council and Executive.Represent the Community and Libraries Business unit at relevant place meetings and with external stakeholders and community networks.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Specialist Knowledge & Skills Demonstrable extensive understanding of contemporary community grant making theory, policies/legislation and practice.Significant knowledge of social, cultural and economic issues affecting the community.Ability to identify and report emerging trends and their impacts for the purposes of Business unit planning.Demonstrable financial management skills and experience.Ability to facilitate and participate in community engagement and consultative processes.Knowledge of government and non-government community networks and services.Knowledge of risk identification, minimisation and management strategies.Judgement & Problem-Solving Skills Proven ability to think strategically.Demonstrable experience of decision making in ambiguity and change.Demonstrated ability to use sound leadership and team building skills to facilitate effective problem solving.Proven ability to continuously improve processes to achieve strategic outcomes.Ability to draw conclusions from statistical data, policies, processes and procedures to address and solve problems.Ability to use an analytical approach to problem solving and decision making on operational matters and apply judgement.Ability to collate, review, and interpret statistical and financial reports and translate into effective business planning and process improvement.Proven ability to monitor and evaluate solutions and adapt as required.Interpersonal & Teamwork Skills High level of written and verbal communication skills including experience in report preparation and writing.Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, from extremely diverse backgrounds.Ability to engage with community in a variety of settings, provide support and guidance and represent their views through advocacy.Ability to work and lead collaboratively and in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally.Developed Emotional Intelligence and influencing skills.Demonstrated ability to use effective interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and conflict resolution techniques.Leadership and Management Skills Ability to prioritise work in a flexible responsive manner, ensuring deadlines are met.Proven ability to manage employees, budgets, projects and implement identified improvements.Ability to overcome challenges utilising leadership and negotiation skills.Sound budgetary management skills.Ability to work within the Business Excellence Framework.REQUIREMENTS Full working rights within Australia.Current National Police Clearance or able to obtain if successful.HOW TO APPLY
