The traditional coal system is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation.
As we re-wire the network to enable the transition to renewables, we continue to deliver safe and reliable electricity to millions through a growing transmission network which traverses properties owned by approximately 17,000 landowners.
Transgrid has been working to improve social licence and customer service levels through its 'landowner commitments project'.
The project has improved processes by which staff can record, manage and track commitments made to members of the community.
The Officer is central to the successful implementation of the landowner commitments project.
The role will assist landowners potentially impacted by Transgrid's existing network, Class B/ Network Solutions Projects and Major Projects.
In your role as Community Engagement Officer you will be an excellent communicator with good people skills.
You will work with other internal business units to ensure community and stakeholder enquires, complaints and commitments are correctly triaged, recorded, managed and closed out within departmental KPIs.
The role requires ability to follow company processes and procedures with regards record keeping and data management.
You will advocate for the community resolving community and landowner concerns in a timely manner.
The role requires strong time management, record keeping, public relations and negotiation skills.
It is well-suited to a person with the ability to effectively negotiate and communicate with the community, internal subject matter experts and external stakeholder organisations.
You will be responsible for producing monthly reports on the number and progress of enquires, complaints and commitments.
You will need to work with the Senior Engagement Manager to continuously improve and identify: process improvements to make the landowner commitment process more efficient, looking at ways to reduce the time taken to respond to and close out enquires, complaints and commitments; estimated cost savings from a centralised landowner commitment process and identify any improvements to further enhance the social acceptance of Transgrid's operations.
You will also be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering engagement activities to ensure Transgrid and its contractors can access easements and transmission infrastructure to perform essential works, while meeting community expectations and enhancing social license to operate.
As Community Engagement Officer you will: Work with other team members to managing enquiries, complaints and commitments workflows received through a variety of communication channels including groups emails and 1800 call centre (both external) and Transgrid online community forms (internal).
Record, review, triage and allocate enquires and complaints to appropriate departments to investigate and resolve.
Coordinating appropriate responses and communicating responses clearly to a range of different audiences.
Write and distribute correspondence to external audiences clearly outlining Transgrid's position in relation to specific matters.
Write and distribute landowner letters and communications to inform landowners of works we are planning to undertake on their property.
Accurately record interactions with the community, landowners and stakeholders in Transgrid's Customer Relationship Management database i.e.
Salesforce.
Plan, lead and deliver community and stakeholder engagement strategies for operations and maintenance activities.
Undertake site visits and landowner visits to resolve issues and/or communicate upcoming works around transmission infrastructure and easement management.
Work as the point of contact for the public when resolving landowner issues.
Skills & Experience Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement OR professional experience in a related community or public-facing role.
Solid demonstrated experience working in a community engagement or public facing role.
Practical experience in dealing with difficult customers and resolving conflict.
Excellent negotiation skills and diplomacy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong record keeping and data management skills.
Ability to follow existing company processes and procedures.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with a broad spectrum of people including landowners, members of the public, advocacy groups and government officers.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve results to meet deadlines.
Excellent track record of achievement.
