We're here to Stride.About the service:The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency DepartmentAccess support from trained mental health professionals within their communityOn offer:Based in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie or Outer HobartPermanent, part-time opportunity (4 days per week)Paying on SCHADs award plus SuperSalary Packaging options (up to $15,899 tax free!!)Meals and entertainment allowance of up to $2,650!Leave loading at 17.5%Paid parental leave supportStride Rewards – access to discounts from 100s of retailers (fashion, food and fitness)One paid wellbeing leave day per yearPurchase up to 5 additional leave days in a 12 month period (pro rata entitlement if part-time)Excellent training and developmentSupportive team environmentRole Overview:The Community Engagement Coordinator seeks opportunities to reach out to people with mental health issues and the communities that support them, to provide health education, raise mental health literacy and community awareness and link people to appropriate services.You will develop, facilitate and evaluate a range of community events, and health and education programs designed to improve mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by people with mental illness, in order to increase early identification and help them to get early access to appropriate services.You will work closely with our clinical team to understand the services that Medicare Mental Health Centre provides, to advocate our services to the wider community.Requirements:Minimum of a Diploma qualification in mental health or other relevant disciplineExperience in a similar role working with people with mental health concernsExperience in planning, developing and delivering of high-quality education, training, and community awareness programs and activitiesDemonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholdersProven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a teamExcellent organisation and time management skillsConfidence in use of IT including social media applications (e.g. Facebook), as well as website maintenanceExcellent verbal communication and written skills, including the ability to identify potential funding sources and write the appropriate grant submissionsMust be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCCMust hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearanceCurrent Driver's LicenseStride is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people.
