We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual for the role of Community Education Counsellor to support our vibrant school community (2 days a week 7.25 flexible hours).
This identified position is a critical role for someone who is highly relational, driven by a strong commitment to cultural understanding, and deeply invested in the wellbeing and success of our students.
Key Responsibilities: Build and foster strong relationships with students, families, and the broader community, with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.Provide culturally appropriate counselling and guidance to enhance students' educational, emotional, and social outcomes.Work collaboratively with school staff and external stakeholders to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Act as a key liaison for community engagement, ensuring the voices of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families are heard and respected.The ideal candidate will: Be passionate about education and empowering students to reach their full potential.Have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and the wider school community.Demonstrate a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions, with a commitment to promoting cultural awareness.Be adaptable, empathetic, and able to provide support across a variety of situations.

Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage is required.
For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either: of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.By definition, a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
