About the role: The Community Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of the Mentoring Program and coordinating the day-to-day activities of casual Associate Fire Practitioners in its designated regional team. This role is responsible for the planning and provision of cultural workshops to support Associate Fire Practitioners to actively participate within their community to ensure cultural continuance and practice of cultural fire management on Country. While the role is remote it is required that the desired candidate be located in Southern New South Wales.
Supporting the development and managing of the monthly work schedule for regional team members on a casual basis; Providing mentoring, team development and capacity building of assigned regional team members;  Assisting in the planning and execution of Firesticks programs, workshops, and community engagements; Contributing to the identification and design of tools; Working with Traditional Owners, local governments, and community groups to achieve Firesticks initiatives and goals; Corresponding with Traditional Owners and other community groups regarding Firesticks activities; Support current research programs and uphold data collection methods; Managing Firesticks equipment and assets are in accordance with policies and procedures; and Carrying out other duties as directed.  About you: Ability to communicate or acquire the knowledge to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in a variety of settings. Demonstrate excellent time management, and work independently with limited supervision. On-ground, practical experience in or demonstrated willingness to acquire skills and knowledge in Indigenous cultural fire management &/or related cultural & natural resource management. Proven ability to collaborate and consult to obtain culturally appropriate information. Capacity to engage with individuals of diverse backgrounds to achieve high-quality outcomes.  Qualifications and experience: Current driver's license and ability to operate a 4WD vehicle (or willingness to). Previous experience in facilitating cultural programs and relevant fire safety training is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous cultural perspectives on Fire, including fire behaviour, response strategies, and comparisons with Western fire management methodologies is highly desirable. High level of IT knowledge and programs (including but not limited to Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Eventbrite, Monday.com). Demonstrated understanding of or experience in data collection, monitoring, analyses and mapping.
