About the Opportunity
Operating from within the Communities Department you will lead and coordinate Community Activation and Events across the Western Downs region.
This position is full time fixed term until 30 August 2025. This position can be based at any of our major regional centres (Dalby/Chinchilla/Miles/Tara or Wandoan).
You will:
Coordinate the engagement and liaison with existing community groups and event committees to identify and leverage opportunities to value-add to events to ensure long term sustainability; Lead and manage the planning, coordination, and operational delivery of Council's major events; Identify and attract new community activations and events to the region through partnership arrangements; Identify value-add opportunities and encourage cross-collaboration and planning to enhance all events and initiatives; Provide event management advice to community groups across the Western Downs. This role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO. This role also has the option of a compressed working roster.
About yourself
A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Degree or Diploma in Business, Event Management or Community Engagement, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have proven experience in the management of staff for the delivery of community activations and events.
Mandatory Vaccinations (or a valid and verifiable contraindication) are to be evidenced when requested by Council.
