Your opportunityTo drive consumer and community engagement activities and initiatives in health service planning and delivery, and infrastructure projects including being responsible for the coordination and administration of activities and events supporting community, consumer and staff participation and engagement.This position will operationally report to the Project Lead, Mackay Hospital Expansion Project (MHEP) and professionally to the Manager of Media and Communications, MHHS.About The TeamIn July 2022, the Queensland Government announced a $250 million funding commitment to carry out the Mackay Hospital Expansion Project (MHEP). This vital infrastructure project, which is being expedited as part of the Statewide Capital Expansion Program (CEP), will deliver an additional 128 inpatient beds for the Mackay Base Hospital (MBH). The core objectives/benefits of the MHEP are:
Equitable local access to health services by the community for acute, sub-acute, women's, children's, and neonatal services.Improved clinical workflows and new models of care which are better aligned with the changing needs of the community.Enhanced patient flow, safety, and outcomes through enhanced functional adjacencies and contemporary infrastructure.Since May 2022, extensive consultation has occurred with MHHS Executive, Clinical, Non-Clinical, Users and First Nations representatives. This process has yielded an Advanced Concept Design for the new P-Block wing, which is currently going through governance approvals. Once the Advanced Concept Design has been approved, the MHEP will enter the next phase- Schematic and Detailed Design.
