Office of Dr Anne Webster MP Federal Member for Mallee Shadow Assistant Minister for Regional Health Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Migration An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Communications Officer for the Federal Member for Mallee, Dr Anne Webster MP, based in Mildura or Swan Hill and travelling within the electorate with the Member for Mallee, occasionally to Canberra during parliamentary sitting weeks and with the Shadow Assistant Minister on shadow ministry visits.
The role of Communications Officer requires familiarity with graphic design, social media and effective marketing strategies as well as demonstrated competency in photography, videography and online publishing.
This position requires a demonstrated ability to work in conjunction with the Federal Member, constituents and stakeholders to help promote the work of the Federal Member to the Mallee electorate and regional Australia.
The position will require: Capacity to use the Member for Mallee's digital and online tools to ensure the best presentation of graphical and video content.Proven ability in photography and/or videorecording and editing, upgrading or enhancing that content for maximum effect in online contexts.Clear competency in applying style guides and direction in graphic design to quickly produce content requiring minimal editing.Proven project management skills and experience of designing, managing and delivering high quality projects on time.Proven high-quality written and presentation skills in a range of formats.Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a small team in a fast moving environment.Work within a team that maintains a customer service culture based on high levels of service in all areas.Work with constituents to assist with challenges and issues.Ensure that all information is accurate and timely.Communicate effectively across all sectors within the team environment.Assist as required within the team environment.Consultation and Communication Maintain effective and cooperative networks with all stakeholders including Federal, State and Local Government representatives, businesses, not-for-profit sector and other key stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and inclusive approach to policy development in the region.Assist with the coordination of meetings as required and with visits by visiting Federal Government Ministers, parliamentarians and representatives.Represent the Federal Member as guided and as appropriate at functions.Demonstrate high level liaison and networking skills.Online Marketing Planning, scheduling and timely release of content online to promote the work of the Member for Mallee.Understanding the latest trends, techniques and tools to achieve maximum reach within Mallee for promotional content.Responsible implementation of marketing budgets and reporting on effectiveness of marketing methods.Interpersonal Skills Communication and networking skills, maintaining a capacity to effectively and sensitively communicate with all stakeholders.Work cooperatively and collaboratively within the team environment.Have highly developed organising and planning skills including managing time and prioritising plans and objectives for self and others.Personal Attributes Motivated to succeed.A committed team player.A lateral thinker.Dynamic problem solving.A positive and professional demeanour open to feedback and improvement.Ability to travel as required.Comfortable and confident in a range of environments.The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27.
A commencement salary within the range of $71,808 to $86,506 full time equivalent will be paid depending on experience.
An additional allowance within the range of $9,289 to $35,793 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable, demonstrated and consistent additional hours of work.
In addition, employer superannuation contributions at 15.4 per cent.
A probationary period of 3 months will apply.
