Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Communications Advisor to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic community and stakeholder management services to technical and professional staff, with a focus on community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced environment in one of the fastest growing regions in South-East Queensland. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting and is passionate about making a difference through effective communication.
What you'll do: As a Communications Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic advice to various stakeholders within the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing comprehensive communication strategies, preparing engaging communication materials, coordinating community engagement activities, managing key communication events and providing expert advice on crisis and reputation management. You will also be responsible for consulting with a wide range of interest groups to ensure effective stakeholder management. This role requires someone who can balance multiple tasks while maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
Provide communication advice and support to Project Directors, Communications Leads, managers and other staff in areas of media and issues management, crisis communications, risk assessment and reporting, community engagement and communication strategies using appropriate communication tools. Expert accountability for crisis and reputation management strategies and identification of key risks involved with departmental actions. Develop strategies for stakeholder management and consult with a wide range of interest groups. Prepare communications materials including project collateral, researching and writing media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes and others for the project. Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for infrastructure projects in the region. Develop, plan and manage key communication activities such as road commissioning, launches, media opportunities and other events as required. What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Communications Advisor role brings a wealth of skills and experience to the table. You are a seasoned professional with a background in communications, public relations or marketing, and have a proven track record of dealing with difficult stakeholders and managing critical conversations. Your ability to drive and attend various sites demonstrates your commitment and flexibility. You understand the importance of safety in the workplace, evidenced by your readiness to comply with PPE requirements and obtain a Construction Industry Induction Card if necessary. Above all, you are an excellent communicator who can effectively manage relationships and deliver strategic communication solutions.
Current holder of a Class C driver's licence with own vehicle to attend various sites. Ability to undergo employment screening (for example a criminal history check) as part of our selection process. Hold a Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) or have ability to obtain within six months of starting. Possess the required PPE due to the site requirements of this position. Degree in communications, public relations or marketing or equivalent years work experience would be highly desirable. Previous experience in dealing with difficult stakeholders and critical conversations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply.
