Primary objective Provide advice to the Department of Tourism and Hospitality's business units to ensure communications services meet the agencies objectives; and facilitate the development and implementation of communication and community engagement activities across the agency and affiliated areas across the broader NT Government.
Context statement This position is responsible for providing strategic communications and engagement planning, messaging, writing and media support to agency teams.
The position operates in a fast-paced environment, dealing with challenging and sensitive topics, in conjunction with frequently changing deadlines and priorities.
Key duties and responsibilities 1.
Provide advice and support to the executive leadership and the Communications, Engagement and Activations Team in devising and implementing program communication strategies.
2.
Manage a broad range of communication projects and allocate resources in order to meet project outcomes, with a focus on planning and logistics, resource allocation, and consideration of political and stakeholder implications.
3.
Engage and manage consultants to ensure delivery of projects on time and within budget.
4.
Ensure programs meet and adhere to the Department of Tourism and Hospitality and Northern Territory Government branding, digital, communication and procurement policies and guidelines.
5.
Assist with coordination, maintenance and update of website and social content, in accordance with established strategies, policies and practices.
6.
Advise and coordinate publishing requirements including the production of corporate and business area publications.
Selection criteria Essential 1.
Practical knowledge of communication processes, including producing contemporary quality publications, media- monitoring, branding, event management, digital networks, and advertising management.
2.
Experience in implementing a range of communication and engagement projects, targeting a diverse range of audiences.
3.
Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple, and sometimes conflicting, projects and work demands; juggling priorities to achieve results.
4.
Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly, coherently, and articulately, both orally and in writing, with a diverse range of clients.
5.
Strong interpersonal skills, including skills in networking, stakeholder engagement and influencing.
6.
Knowledge of a range of business management systems and processes including procurement and coordination.
Desirable 1.
Understanding and proficiency in the use of graphic and publishing programs (e.g.
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
