About the RoleFull time – Fixed term to December 2025 The Communications Lead is accountable for developing and delivering communication and engagement for the major network service change that will occur when the Metro Tunnel opens.
This is a high-volume, fast-paced delivery communications role.
Applicants need to be organised, detail-focused, adaptive to changing information, responsive to internal and external stakeholders, and able to interpret technical information into plain English.
This role will suit someone who is process-driven and can adhere to a delivery schedule, can write communications plans, collateral and deliver consultation and has an interest in public transport.
Produce comprehensive communication plans and collateral for use across traditional and digital channels, define messaging and channels, transfer technical terminology to easily understood language, reflect potential issues and propose mitigations.Partner with project teams to gain a deep understanding of the project, and understand the communications needed to meet the delivery remit.Deliver communication and engagement plans at a high standard, with identification of risk mitigation strategies within outlined timeframes.Work with VIDA, MTPO and the broader transport portfolio (including alliance partners, transport operators and other transport agencies) to ensure a consistent and clear message is delivered to the public.Build strong and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders within Network Services Change division, Modal Planning teams and DTP marketing and media teams.Innovative solutions that improve communication, engagement and performance have been developed and implemented.KEY SELECTION CRITERIA We are looking for a candidate who excels in interpersonal skills, able to detect underlying concerns, emotions, and interests in interactions with others.
The ideal person will be genuine and sincere in their approach, while also presenting an objective view of differing positions to achieve the best outcomes for both individuals and the organisation.
The successful candidate will be adept at communicating with impact, identifying the key messages and information needed for effective decision-making, and providing high-level advice on how to influence target audiences.
They will also demonstrate expertise in project delivery, defining tasks, coordinating work activities, and monitoring progress to ensure that agreed outcomes are met, taking corrective actions when necessary.
We are seeking someone who has strong stakeholder management capabilities, able to navigate and address complex, often competing stakeholder needs, and facilitate innovative solutions to resolve issues.
Additionally, the candidate should have a solid understanding of the political and organisational context, recognising the pressures that the organisation faces and the factors that shape its climate and culture.
