The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 Communications and Publishing Officer in the Client Relations team within the Parliamentary Library.
The Parliamentary Library provides high quality information, analysis and advice to Senators and Members of Parliament in support of their parliamentary and representational roles.
The Client Relations and Publishing team leads the delivery of outreach and publishes engaging online publications and communications for parliamentarians, committees, and their staff.
We are a trusted source of information, analysis and advice for Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff.
We are looking for someone who is creative, possesses sound judgement and excels at creating and delivering engaging online and print communications.
As the Communication and Publishing Officer you will be responsible for developing and distributing engaging digital, and occasionally, print communications.
You will be supported by your Director to evaluate communication strategies and ensure optimal reach.
You will also manage and develop the Library's social media presence.
You'll be creative, highly organised, have a great attention to detail.
You'll demonstrate a proven ability to deliver creative and effective communications, evaluate results.
You'll work collaboratively with business areas and external stakeholders, seeking advice from your Director and incorporating feedback from clients to maximise the Library's reach.
This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the parliamentary environment, developing and implementing communications which meet client needs and increase client engagement with the Library's products and services.
You'll use your creativity and outstanding communication skills to promote the Library's unique image.
Who we are looking for
The Communications and Publishing Officer will have:
experience in creating and distributing engaging communications
excellent written and oral communication
a great attention to detail, be highly organised and creative
a flexible approach to work, be able to organise priorities and meet deadlines.
sound judgement and an understanding of the parliamentary and political environment.
We create and distribute Library communications to Parliamentarians and the wider community, and manage our social channels
(LinkedIn, X and Facebook).

Eligibility
Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or similar are desirable but not essential
The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
