In this pivotal role, you'll help ensure that Council delivers engaging, accessible, quality information to the Darebin community through a range of channels including digital and print.

About the Role With a focus on continuous improvement and creativity, you'll support divisions across the organisation to inform and educate the community about a broad range of Council programs, events, policies and initiatives. Key result areas include:
Develop effective strategies and communications plans. Coordinate the development and delivery of key external and internal communications. Provide strategic communication advice to internal clients. Develop content for Council's major channels, including digital, social media, newsletters, publications, print material and internal communications. Where necessary, represent Council on joint communication teams with key external stakeholders. Manage a diverse range of stakeholder requests and time-manage and prioritise concurrent work across multiple groups with differing needs. Ensure communications activities are in-line with Council narrative and strategic communications frameworks. Ensure communications are developed with Darebin's diverse communities in mind. Evaluate the effectiveness of communication channels and executions and use findings to optimize strategies and enhance future campaigns for greater impact. Skills & Experience A tertiary qualification in communications, digital communications, public relations, journalism, marketing (or related discipline) and/or relevant experience in the corporate communications environment. Minimum five years of experience in the area of corporate communications and strategic public relations. Experience in communications, including digital, media, issues management and strategies. Demonstrated experience in recognising and interpreting quality content for a range of different audiences. Experience in working with a range of stakeholders (internal and external). Skilled in managing and working on multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision. Ability to negotiate, develop and influence others towards common organisational outcomes. Ability to problem solve and be solutions focused. Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills, especially in the field of public relations and media relations. Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a team. A high degree of integrity and professionalism. A current employee Working with Children Card.
