Our Client:Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the economic growth of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation manages a diverse portfolio, including extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities, supporting the region's thriving industries and communities, including the remote communities in Cape York Peninsula, the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Torres Strait Islands.
The Opportunity:Reporting directly to the General Manager Strategy and External Relations, you will support and enhance the communications and stakeholder engagement efforts. This position focuses on delivering communication strategies that align with major projects and organisational goals. You will be responsible for shaping public perception, ensuring clear messaging, and building strong community relations.
Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Maintain and implement the Strategic Communications Plan with a dedication to protecting and enhancing the organisations reputation across a range of diverse stakeholders.Develop and execute communication initiatives supporting major projects and organisational objectives.Establish strong partnerships to stay informed on current challenges and issues.Monitor media and inform management of emerging issues, preparing timely responses.Produce high-quality media releases, statements, and updates to enhance public communications.Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of promotional publications and materials.Manage the website and social media presence to ensure up-to-date and consistent information.Administer the sponsorship program and Community Investment Fund, maximising organisational value.Maintain corporate image standards to consistently present the organisation professionally.
Your Skills & Experience:Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.Proven experience in media relations, corporate communications, or public relations, particularly in project or campaign contexts.Strong understanding of communication protocols, and strength to identify potential concerns and in turn develop mitigation strategies.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.Accomplished stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build meaningful and long-lasting relationships.Proficiency in digital communication platforms, including social media and website management.Strong initiative, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.A resourceful and proactive approach.
