This role will work within the Working Capital crew in Business Lending. This crew is accountable for setting and executing the technology strategy for the Working Capital business, and this role will be at the forefront of building the roadmap of the future. As a Senior Engineering Manager - Chapter Lead , you will be leading engineers that report to you, instilling a growth mindset and innovative ways of working.
Your Responsibilities You'll play an important role in steering the organisation by:
Providing expert advice relating to technology, solution design and architecture, people leadership and hiring. Bringing a perfect blend of people management and technical expertise. Shaping the evolution of the technical squad by contributing to the technology strategy, drafting quarterly crew memos, prioritising backlog, defining delivery roadmaps, and deciding which problems to invest in solving. We're Interested in Hearing From People Who: Have demonstrated experience in leading high-performing cross-functional engineering teams with a solid technical background, balancing hands-on contributions, coaching, and leading delivery. Provide technical delivery leadership for the entire stream of products including end to end software development. Can provide technical mentoring with your squad and the wider Working Capital engineering team. Have worked with a wide group of enablers, including user experience designers, customer operations, accessibility advocates and product owners. Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice. Promote open communication and create a safe working environment where our engineers' voices are heard to achieve great outcomes for our organisation, our customers and the community. Stay updated with latest technologies, incorporating relevant innovations into team's processes. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. Constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams. Are ready to lead/facilitate/support system and product design discussions. Tech Skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Broad technical expertise including the ability to understand complex environments and knowledge of languages such as Java, .NET, or similar. Proven experience in leading teams/squads of full-lifecycle software engineers. Backend experience in Java, Kotlin, Spring, Hibernate, using Event driven architecture. Experience in frontend frameworks such as ReactJS/JavaScript. Promote a DevSecOps mindset within your chapter supported by world-class tools. Experience using Docker and OAuth2/SAML. Experience in cloud engineering – AWS preferred. Experience working in an agile environment and in the use of work tracking tools such as JIRA.
