Woonona NSW 2517, Australia Req #217 Friday, 10 January 2025 OUR PURPOSE IS 'TO PROTECT' WE CARE, WE WORK TOGETHER, WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE Common Law Specialist Full-time 6 month Fixed-term opportunity through to 30 June 2025 Role based in any of our Coal Mines Insurance offices | Speers Point, Singleton or Woonona About the role: As a Common Law Specialist with Coal Services, you will be responsible for the case management of claims when Common Law or Dust Disease proceedings have been initiated.
You will manage claims in collaboration with Injury Management Specialists where appropriate, collaborate with Legal Specialists, ensure the CMI Claims System is kept up to date with accurate information, and be accountable for ensuring cost-effective outcomes are achieved on a portfolio of Common Law and Dust Disease claims.
Your main responsibilities will include: Claims Management in line with the CMI Operating (Case) Management Model Collaborate with Injury Management Specialists to develop and implement appropriate injury management plans Communicate effectively with policy holders, injured workers and other stakeholders involved in the litigation process Implement claim strategies to optimise financial outcomes for all litigated claims in collaboration with Legal Specialists Preparation of written submissions for higher management to resolve litigated claims Comply with relevant legislation, industry code, CMI and Coal Services policy and procedures About you: Your education, experience and skills will include: Minimum 5 years' Workers Compensation experience Experience in claims management and injury management within a workers compensation environment Experience managing portfolios of large employers Experience managing litigated claims and an understanding of the Court process Tertiary qualification/s in Business/Law or similar discipline (Desirable) Highly developed interpersonal skills, written/oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively consult and influence stakeholders Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent priority management Demonstrate adaptability and personal accountability Ability to work with minimal supervision Demonstrated behaviours aligned to our company values and culture - we care, we work together, we make a difference What we offer: Check out our Benefits page to learn more about our Employee Value Proposition!
