Location: Melbourne, with travel to project sites across the East CoastJob Type: Permanent, Full-TimeAbout the Role:The primary purpose of this position is to lead and manage the commissioning activities for major electrical projects. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert in the testing and commissioning of both primary and secondary electrical equipment. This includes overseeing the commissioning process across a range of renewable energy projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar power plants. In addition to your commissioning responsibilities, you will provide high-level specialist engineering support to project teams and stakeholders, assisting with project quotations, bids, and tender submissions. You will be accountable for all testing and commissioning activities within your portfolio, ensuring that all systems meet the required standards and are delivered on time and within budget.Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with extensive experience in commissioning high-voltage (HV) systems and a solid understanding of both primary and secondary electrical equipment. Experience in renewable energy projects, particularly solar installations and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), is essential. You will be highly skilled in leading and managing the commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring all activities meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. Additionally, you will provide specialist engineering support to project teams, assisting with technical input for quotations, bids, and tender submissions. Your expertise in troubleshooting complex systems, managing commissioning processes, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial to the successful and timely delivery of large-scale energy projects.Key Responsibilities:Testing & Commissioning: Perform HV testing and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, relays, SCADA systems, and control systems.Project Oversight: Lead the commissioning of BESS and solar projects, managing internal and subcontracting resources.Technical Support: Provide high-level specialist engineering support to project teams, including guidance on testing procedures, troubleshooting, and system integration.Documentation & Reporting: Prepare commissioning methodology, plans, reports, and acceptance documentation, ensuring all testing meets project requirements.Risk & Compliance: Implement and adhere to safety protocols, risk management strategies, and health & safety policies to ensure compliance with industry standards.Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth commissioning processes and successful project outcomes.Qualifications & Experience:Tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience in commissioning electrical systems, particularly within the renewable energy or grid-scale solar sector.Expertise in HV testing and commissioning, including protection and control systems, SCADA, and power systems.Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and commissioning procedures for large-scale infrastructure projects.Ability to manage risks and troubleshoot complex electrical systems in both greenfield and brownfield environments.What You'll Bring:Extensive experience in commissioning large-scale energy infrastructure projects, particularly in the BESS and solar sectors.Technical knowledge of electrical systems and commissioning methodologies.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on safety and efficiency.How to Apply:Click on the 'Apply' button to submit your resume.
