Purpose of Role :
The Comminution Technician is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance on Weir HPGR, screens, and cone crusher equipment on customer sites and in the workshop as both a fitter and a hands-on site service technician. The role also involves managing clients within the APAC region to establish and implement sustainable growth of the allocated Comminution business unit.
This position will work with the Senior HPGR/Comminution supervisor and Service management on various business objectives including but not limited to onsite safety, onsite maintenance, process improvement, lean principles, and special projects.

Work with the HPGR team on site, at the Perth and Port Hedland facility, as well as managing clients within the APAC region to establish and implement sustainable growth of the allocated HPGR business unit. Provide service and customer support while onsite. Manage all onsite maintenance, repair, fault finding, and test tasks as per scopes of work provided. Recommend improvements to the Service Manager for the Customer's equipment that will reduce their TOC. Develop strong relationships with key customers to ensure expectations are being met and remedial action taken to address issues. Exhibit a collaborative approach to ensure that customer needs are prioritized and satisfied to meet set service levels. Provide technical advice to the Site Service Supervisor for service and components for contracts. Ensure that preventative maintenance is conducted to eliminate or reduce plant downtime. Liaise with the appropriate Area Managers to ensure that the installation and commissioning activities are being undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner for all works. Show flexibility under urgent or breakdown conditions in order to service customer requirements. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: A minimum of 3–4 years relevant technical/trade experience (Minimum Cert III in Mechanical Engineering). Experience working on heavy specialized equipment such as high-pressure grinding rolls, hydraulic and rotating equipment, highly preferred. Hydraulic knowledge is desirable. Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Be available for a combination of workshop and field work. Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Excel and Word), Email. Weir is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
