We are seeking a Commercialisation Manager based in Canberra.
You will be working in a small team and collaborating with investment managers across the different research portfolios and different office locations to identify outputs that require commercialisation to achieve impact for Australian grain growers.
When commercialising GRDC's research outputs you will apply GRDC's Commercialisation Principles to negotiate commercialisation arrangements appropriate for each output.
Responsibilities Provide market research and business intelligence by proactively supporting R&D planning, commercial performance, IP and technology pipeline activities, and contract governance or compliance issues, for an investment portfolio.Negotiate and facilitate the delivery of GRDC-funded Project IP across the private and public sectors nationally and internationally to ensure effective and efficient delivery of R&D outputs.Responsible for negotiating and facilitating an R&D portfolio with diverse stakeholders across the public and private sectors including commercial and not-for-profit organisations to deliver optimal outcomes for growers.Support an R&D portfolio through provision of technical and commercial project assessment and the development of business cases that support such investments.Ensure that IP is managed appropriately within a relevant R&D portfolio in a manner that supports the identified delivery path for the relevant project outputs.Contribute to the attraction of private sector co-investment for commercial research outcomes.Develop strong relationships with external stakeholders within the Australian Grains sector, with a focus on commercial delivery offices of research partners, and industry.Negotiate commercial licences to facilitate the delivery of project outputs to the Australian Grains Industry, providing an optimal return on investment for GRDC and its investment partners.Identify communication opportunities for Regional Grower Services and Corporate Communications as they arise and the timing for delivery of project products and services.Candidate Profile: Demonstrated minimum 5 years of sound knowledge of related industry experience in a particular R&D field, particularly on commercial delivery of R&D outputs in appropriate products.Demonstrated experience in project negotiation, facilitation, and management of contracts involving commercial and public sector partners in a relevant industry (5+ years desirable).Demonstrated ability to develop business cases for investment based on return to growers, acknowledging that the path to market will often involve commercially orientated stakeholders.Proven understanding of commercial principles including finance, brand management, IP management, licensing, and deal development.Strong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue advice.Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.Ability to synthesise information and provide a summary and recommended options.Demonstrated commitment to continuously update necessary skills and knowledge as required for this role.Highly developed presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate, and develop others.Mandatory Requirements: Must be prepared to travel as and when required.Must be willing to undergo all Pre-employment Medical checks.Must have a valid Australian Driver's Licence as deemed necessary.Please include a CV and cover letter in your application.GRDC is committed to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and welcomes and encourages applications from People with Disability (PwD), First Nations peoples, LGBTIQA+ people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, mature age and young workers.
