The Systems Commercial team is a key interface between the physical power system and electricity markets.
About the role
In the role of Commercial Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering and managing commercial solutions for the procurement for non-market ancillary services and RERT within the National Electricity Market (NEM). You will be pivotal in maintaining a commercial focus with all external parties wanting to provide operational system services on the NEM. As the key interface between legal, finance and engineering teams throughout the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from initial tendering through to contract execution, you will be responsible for ensuring all technical requirements are contractually captured and commercial terms agreed. You will lead vital commercial negotiations and oversee contract administration of the procured services.
You will also be required to use a high level of initiative and make independent decisions on commercial matters. The role will also require you to provide mentoring to junior team members to maximise their skills and potential within the organisation.
Being within the AEMO operations Division, you may also be required to support operational functions during emergency.
What you will be doing The Commercial Specialist will be accountable for:
Leading commercial negotiations for the procurement of Non-Market Ancillary Services (NMAS) and Reliability and Emergency Reserve Trader (RERT) whilst ensuring all technical requirements are contractually captured and manage the tender process.Be the key interface between legal, finance and engineering teams throughout the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from initial tendering through to contract execution.Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to market participants, government, and regulatory bodies, prospective RERT/NMAS providers etc and managing & responding to their queries.Support the SRAS procurement process to ensure that it is System Reliability Standard (SRS) and NER compliant.Support and provide operational advice for procurement of NMAS and RERT services and operationalise signed agreements into AEMO contract management systems and databases.What you will bring to the role Education / Certificates
Bachelor's degree in engineering, legal, finance, commerce, or other relevant disciplineKnowledge, and capabilities
Relevant tertiary qualifications (Engineering, legal, finance, commerce, or other relevant discipline) supported by 10+ years' experience in commercial management.
