Position overview At Nectr (part of Hanwha Energy Australia), we strive to provide affordable, clean electricity to residential and commercial customers.
As part of this mission, our Project Development Team at Hanwha Energy Australia is developing a portfolio of utility scale solar and battery projects to generate, store, and dispatch renewable electricity.
This role will be key in driving the commercial strategy for our projects, with an emphasis on project finance activities.
As the Commercial Manager in Project Development Team, you will have first-hand exposure to a wide range of electricity market and renewable energy transactions.
Reporting to the Head of Project Development, you will manage a variety of workstreams for successfully building out our project portfolio and contracting strategy.
You will work in a small and experienced team, with the opportunity to be involved in all areas of the wholesale energy markets.
This role will be suited to an individual who has a passion for renewable energy and is keen to be at the forefront of the transition to a low emission energy sector.
Responsibilities Modelling, analysis, and reportingCommercial modelling of battery energy storage systems (BESS)Determine the financial feasibility of the projects and advise on the projectsAssist the continued development and maintenance of the project development pricing modelsModelling the National Electricity Market in a wide range of future scenarios to inform of risks and opportunitiesValuing power purchase agreement (PPA) opportunities and communicating with internal & external stakeholdersProvide financial and analysis reports as neededProvide interface into business management and finance team as neededParticipate in M&A analysis & due diligence of strategic acquisition targetsContribute to the transaction contract review processAssist with exploration of new business opportunities and strategies (primarily renewables such as solar and battery projects)Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal & external stakeholdersEngage with key external stakeholders including potential counterparties, financial and legal partners, market research providersLead and negotiate terms and contractual conditions with external stakeholders in relation to the projectsWork Experience & Skills Essential experience & skills +10 years' experience in a similar role or Australian energy business highly desirable(Preferably in investment banking, big-4 professional services infrastructure/modelling team, in-house corporate or commercial advisory roles)Demonstrated experience in due diligence of renewable energy or infrastructure assetsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsHighly numerate and with an analytical mindset – you will possess an ability to interpret, query, model, and assess datasetsManaging and leading negotiations, essentialGreat time management and prioritisation skillsWillingness to learn and grow with the companyQualifications The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a financial discipline such as economics, finance/accounting, mathematics, or engineering.
