I'm currently looking to source a Commercial Manager role for a leading builder who has a significant pipeline of work with government and defence organisations across Australia and internationally.
The Commercial Manager is a newly created role which has been created as a result of significant growth within the business over the last two years it is a pivotal position and will lead and enhance commercial practices within project teams, ensuring all commercial and contractual obligations are understood and executed in alignment with company policies and legal requirements. The position will be based in NW Sydney or the Northern Beaches and the expected remuneration package on offer is $220k-$250k plus super.
Key Responsibilities Include: Ensure that all project personnel understand and comply with the commercial aspects of contracts. Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to ensure favourable terms and conditions. Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve business objectives, revenue targets, and profitability KPIs. Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with contracts, disputes, and project execution. Oversee, lead, and facilitate the generation of monthly project financial forecasting reports, ensuring their accuracy and quality while coordinating month-end roll processes with the Finance team. Engage in the tendering and bidding phases, involving bid preparation, proposal assessment, subcontractor and supplier selection, determining commercial strategies, and negotiating tender agreements. Take charge of representing and guiding the business in all commercial and legal affairs, collaborating with their External Legal Team as needed to mitigate risks and expedite the closure of legal matters effectively. Analyse tender documents and implement commercial terms proficiently, adhering to regulations such as the Security of Payments Act across both Head Contract and Subcontract levels. Manage both minor and major contract disputes as delegated by senior management. Aid in resolving commercial issues, such as claims and disputes, and develop administrative procedures for on-site and off-site operations, working closely with the Finance team. Suitable candidates would be expected to have the following experience and qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business, or related disciplines. Postgraduate qualifications in Commerce, Business, Construction, Property, Quantity Surveying, or Law. Minimum 7 years of experience in commercial and contract administration in construction or engineering projects, with at least 2-5 years in a commercial management role. This organisation has a diverse loyal tenured team that has grown significantly over the past few years, internal promotions are encouraged and it has high staff retention. These roles offer a fantastic opportunity to work on exciting projects for a company that is going through a period of positive change. All positions are available for an immediate start with the possibility to be based out of either one of their two Sydney offices (with some WFH offered). Candidates must have full Australian work rights to be considered for these roles.
