You will contribute to commercial support of Pacific Maritime Security Program, focusing on the Guardian Class Patrol Boats (GCPB) external maintenance periods.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experts across a unique workforce consisting of Australian Public Servants, members of the Australian Defence Force, Industry and Pacific Island Nation stakeholders.In this position, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex contract management work. You will have an in-depth knowledge of legislative frameworks and government decision-making. You will engage in complex problem solving and issues management. You will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify stakeholders' expectations and concerns, develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The centrepiece of Australia's Defence engagement in the South Pacific is the Pacific Patrol Boat (PPB) Program, which involved the gifting of 22 Pacific Class Patrol Boats between 1987-1997 and the current PPB replacement program, which will provide 22 new Guardian Class Patrol Boats to participating Pacific Island Countries.Recognising that the boats are sovereign assets of the participating nations, Australia is committed to providing a range of engineering, technical and logistics support services to ensure the ongoing operational capability of the Pacific Patrol Boat fleet, which is provisioned through the Pacific Systems Program Office.
