The role
Working with Scott Sharry and Brett Cook, this role is a joint resource between our Commercial Litigation and R&I practice groups. You will join a collaborative team who act for a variety of blue chip clients including major financial services entities, mining and energy companies, State and Federal Government, ASX listed companies, large private organisations and insolvency practitioners.
In this role you will work across a range of major complex commercial disputes, regulatory investigations and contentious insolvency matters. Specifically, your key matters will involve significant litigation involving major energy and resources clients. You will be involved in all aspects of conducting high profile litigious matters including preparing complex advice, drafting and settling pleadings, complex statements, instructing Counsel in interlocutory and final hearings for major contested matters, and play a pivotal part in every aspect of contentious matters including court proceedings.
On a day-to-day basis you will engage with our litigation Partners as well as being exposed to our corporate teams and our prominent clients. You will also be exposed to disputes and issues that might arise in restructures and workouts, voluntary administrations, liquidations and receiverships, in addition to a wide range of litigious and other contentious corporate and commercial law matters.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least 5 years PQE within a commercial litigation or contentious restructuring and insolvency practice
Familiarity with Supreme/Federal Court litigation
Strong drafting experience including court documents, affidavits, briefs, and the preparation of evidence
Experience in providing advice in relation to insolvency practice and procedure
Thrive in an environment that values autonomy, independence and a strong work ethic
A strong focus on delivering exceptional client service
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build client relationships and maintain a positive team environment
A team player with strong time and project management skills
An appetite to mentor junior team members
