The opportunity… As a result of ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join our Legal team. You could be based in Sydney or Newcastle. You will be instrumental in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and alignment with our strategic and operational needs.
Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including binder (DUA) agreements and third-party contracts. Draft, review, and socialise a variety of internal policies. Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance within the insurance industry. Assess potential risks in contracts and mitigate through well-structured legal clauses. Maintain and update the contracts register and policy documentation. Support in reviewing complex claims, such as liability and ex-gratia claims, and support complaints management. Ensure compliance with all online disclosures and draft necessary documentation. Monitor changes in laws and regulations impacting commercial contracts. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure legal needs align with business goals. What you will bring… Minimum Bachelor of Laws or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience in commercial law, specifically focused on contract drafting. Strong understanding of contract law, corporate governance, and commercial transactions. Excellent communication, negotiation, and legal drafting skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
