Work with and learn from Journeyman technicians while assisting customers and handling service calls.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspect air-conditioning units to ensure efficient operationPerform regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling unitsDiagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctionsAssist with installing, replacing, or repairing damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controlsAssist with installing new heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems; repair and replace damaged or worn heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning parts and equipment; repair or replace low- and high-pressure liquid linesInspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of the unit and make necessary adjustments; inspect and service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumpsAssist with and maintain the chilled and hot water supply systemsAdjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean coils, blowers, check motors, and belt tensionsAssist with assembly and install metal ductwork (where applicable).Assist in planning and designing of new installations of heating and air-conditioning systemsMaintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulationsPerform additional duties and responsibilities as requiredRecognize and identify potential risks and hazards associated with performing all work-related duties safelyWork to mitigate potential risks associated with essential dutiesCollaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environmentsParticipate in a comprehensive OSHA-approved safety course (preferably an OSHA 10- or 30-hour course) and adhere to company and regulatory compliance programsObtain or carry current low-voltage electrical cardObtain or carry an EPA refrigerant licenseWear appropriate company-issued uniform as well as PPE where required to work safely.Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GEDAbility to enter the Union and or currently enrolledPossess a valid and current Driver's License that meets the insurance requirements of the companyPush/pull/lift up to 50 lbsPreferred Qualifications: OSHA 10/30 CertifiedPrinciples and practices of Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair; hazard and safety practices common to the tradeHVAC controls and safety devices; appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) / chemical usages; tools of the trade; materials and refrigerant recovery equipment and procedures used in installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systemsComputerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to air-conditioning, heating, ventilating, and refrigerated coolingKnowledge of sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, and carpentryBasic understanding of building automation controls
