Overview of the role: A fantastic opportunity exists for a high calibre Commercial Finance Manager to join this leading professional services company. This role will primarily be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, data analysis, and projects, but will also need to have general knowledge of financial control, tax, working capital, and audit.
This is a genuine 2IC role to the Head of Finance, Australia, with a high level of visibility with the senior leaders of the business. The successful applicant will need to be technically proficient, hands-on, and possess strong leadership and communication skills to support a small, dynamic finance team. Commercially astute and data-driven, the Commercial Finance Manager will drive financial performance across the business while ensuring internal controls and good governance remain in place. As part of a global function, the Commercial Finance Manager will need to become a trusted adviser to local partners, as well as work collaboratively with our offshore shared services centre, regional office in Singapore, and group function in London.
Key responsibilities: Leadership and commercial support Genuine 2IC to the Head of Finance, Australia
Trusted adviser to local partners
Directly liaise with Group Finance and ensure we maintain strong relationships
Provide leadership on daily operational matters to the local finance team
Apply a commercial lens to both client engagement and supplier contracts
Design financial models, scenarios, and sensitivities for case and client profitability analysis
Change leadership through implementing and driving change activities and providing thought leadership

Data and systems Quick to navigate systems to extract, sort and present data
Uses data-driven insights to drive actions and performance
Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
Can comfortably navigate through SAP, Oracle, Concur, Salesforce, and Thinkcell

Budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting Oversee the annual budget and periodic forecast preparation
Provide credible financial analysis to support monthly reporting, quarterly reviews, and strategic planning
Analyse and report performance metrics against budget and forecast, and highlight areas of focus accompanied by recommendations

Relationship management Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders that strengthen the finance brand
Build trust with partners whilst not compromising on the overall strategic imperatives of the firm
Manage vendor contracts efficiently
Balance local and global responsibilities
Prepare statutory financial reports and oversee financial reporting processes
Manage the monthly management reporting into group finance
Implement internal control processes and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS standards
Deliver consistent, accurate, and timely management information (financial and statistical) to all key stakeholders for regulatory and decision-making purposes
Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of internal control policies and procedures and ensure their regular review for continuous improvement and regulatory requirements
Work closely with APAC and Group finance staff to ensure alignment, consistency, and best practice across the region and globally

Compliance Oversee all regulatory finance matters, including statutory compliance and tax reporting
Oversee all ATO filings
Work closely with external auditor and company secretary to maintain ASIC and other business registers

Treasury Deliver best practice working capital management around Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Work–in-Progress (WIP) to ensure efficiency in invoicing and collections
Oversight of ongoing cash forecasting ensuring credit risk management and day-to-day management of liquidity
Continuously improve the working capital and cash transaction process

Minimum Requirements: Minimum 6 years' relevant finance-related experience
Demonstrated leadership capability, particularly within a matrix structure
Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, responsive, able to manage non-finance stakeholders, and be a team player
Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint essential
Sound knowledge of IFRS accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Curiosity and passion for performance improvement, automation efficiencies, and project management
Fluency with SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Concur, and Thinkcell desirable
Professional services industry background an advantage
Familiarity with ATO lodgement requirements and tax legislation is desirable
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or related discipline
CA/CPA qualified with at least 5 years' experience post qualification
