About the CompanyOur client is a key player in the Australian energy landscape, developing, building and owning operating over 20GW of large-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects - including the country's largest wind and solar farms.

About the RoleWe are seeking a qualified Senior Commercial Director with experience in delivering large mining, infrastructure and O&G projects above $1bn+ value.
Ideally you will have successfully delivered major projects from both owners and contractors side, from development to commissioning, with experience in split contracting strategy.
With a team of qualified resources at your disposal, you will have excellent commercial acumen and be well versed in drafting and managing complex civil contracts - up and downstream, managing front end and back end claims and - above all - delivering

value engineering

to drive down costs before contract award.

Responsibilities

Lead the procurement and contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure project value is optimised and delivered on time and on budget.

Assess, manage and mitigate commercial risks through effective pricing, contracting and insurance strategies, documenting the process from drafting to execution.

Manage internal teams and act as an interface to external stakeholders assisting the project director to ensure smooth project construction and successful delivery.

Prepare regular progress reports, financial statements, and other project commercial and financial documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Law, Finance, Engineering or related study.

Many years experience in delivering large scale mining / oil & gas / power projects above $1bn+ from both owners and contractors side.

Strong commercial acumen and experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, assessing project scope and driving down costs, budgets, and financial aspects of projects.

Well versed across complex civil and infrastructure projects.

Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.
