Commercial Counsel

This role would suit someone that demonstrated a willingness to take on increased responsibilities and is able to act independently (with support from senior lawyers), has excellent planning and organisational skills for project development and implementation, and is efficient at completing tasks timely to support internal and external clients demands.

We will count on you to:

Provide expert and commercial legal advice in a timely and professional manner to all aspects of the Marsh & Mercer Australia businesses
Work on contracts with our clients, suppliers and the insurance market generally
Work on industry specific materials such a binding authority, opinion letter, attestation, Authorised Representative agreement, or distributor agreement.
Analysis of and advice on new and/or changing laws and regulations
Identify liability exposure and provide solutions to manage and reduce risk to Marsh & Mercer
Effective management of outside counsel and review of outside counsel work product.
Provide supervision and development to junior team members
Liaison between the legal team and rest of the corporate group


Assisting in producing reports, manuals, and presentations
Other tasks as directed by the manager, Chief Commercial Counsel, Pacific

What you need to have:

Pro-active and highly organised
Thrive in a high-pressure environment
Ability to work autonomously and accurately to meet multiple deadlines
Strong attention to detail with a high level of writing and communication skills
Ability to draft and edit concisely
Strong Microsoft Office skills
