The Commercial and Customer Excellence Lead will make a significant contribution to the team through the provision of contractual advice, management of commercial negotiations and contribution of ideas to the strategic initiatives, efficiencies and effectiveness of the business.
In addition, overseeing Delivery and Customer Support, this role will ensure the highest level of product quality and performance is maintained through the management of after-sale relationships, service and support requests and troubleshooting techniques.
This position is Canberra based and requires the successful candidate to hold and maintain an Australian Security Clearance. Some travel is required. Responsibilities: Commercial and contract management: Ensure all commercial activities are aligned with business objectives, including pricing, contract negotiation and contract management. Provide advice and mitigation strategies to senior management on contractual and commercial risks and opportunities. Evaluate the profitability of contracts and projects, ensuring they meet company financial goals. Develop, implement and manage frameworks and processes for the procurement of supplies, ensuring that supply chain risks are controlled, and key suppliers have been assessed. Ensure the company conforms to its statutory and legal obligations under legislation for corporate activities. Help drive a greater level of commercial and financial literacy through the business. Delivery management: Lead the management and coordination of delivery and commissioning of Department 13 equipment and other activities. Manage the coordination of (and on occasion conduct) thorough site surveys prior to installation of equipment to identify any potential challenges and ensure compatibility with existing structures. Manage the coordination of field activities for installed assets, including relocations, maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting. Responsible for scheduling and performing software upgrades with clients. Exercise every available measure to control and minimise costs associated with delivery and installations. Ensure that systems, procedures and methodologies are in place to support and optimise service delivery, including managing export controls and approvals. Manage the safety and compliance requirements associated with site visits, delivery, installation and support activities. Provide exceptional ongoing after sales support to customers and distributors. Manage the centralised support/service ticketing system and ensure all customer contact is recorded and actioned in a timely manner including documenting all inspections, maintenance, repair work. Collaborate with engineers to triage and troubleshoot technical issues and perform diagnostics to remedy any issues. Define, communicate and work within an appropriate set of SLAs for all service and support activities. Innovation and product development: Provide input into product design and releases to minimise ongoing service and maintenance costs and effort and to ensure customer needs and market demands are being addressed. Develop, review and maintain technical documentation and training manuals necessary for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of systems and deliver training to staff and clients as required. Work closely with the Engineering teams to understand key technical changes in the products. Leadership and Management: Lead by example and develop a team that models Department 13 values and high standards of performance. Support the Executive team through timely reporting and progress of activities, consideration of business impact through effective decision making and problem solving, and the escalation of any risks and matters relating to our people, our systems, our business and our reputation. Ensure all business activities comply with health and safety regulations and Department 13 Policies. Understand Quality, Safety and Environmental principles and adherence to Department 13 processes and work instructions which relate to these matters. There may be a requirement to carry out additional duties and hours as reasonably necessary or as reasonably required to meet the needs of the organisation and fulfill the requirements of your duties.
Qualifications & Experience: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Engineering or related discipline or relevant trade experience. Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a commercial/contract management role. Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant leadership position. Experience in electrical, mechanical and electronics desired but not essential. Solid understanding of product, asset and support service lifecycles to drive technical solutions. Commercial acumen together with a strong understanding and capacity to meet client requirements with diplomacy and sensitivity to solving complex problems. Strong contract negotiation experience and financial, economic, and contract analysis skills. Outstanding leadership capabilities and proven strength in leading, motivating and coaching teams. Demonstrated knowledge of export control frameworks and requirements. Demonstrated knowledge and compliance with Workplace Health and Safety procedures and safe work practices. Skills: A commitment to quality outcomes and continuous improvement. Well-developed problem solving, analytical, self-management and organisational skills including the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities. High-level interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with a range of internal/external clients, stakeholders, and service providers. Strong influencing and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to review and understand complex requirements and effectively deliver to them. Ability to recognise areas for improvement, create clear plans, communicate the plans to senior management level and then successfully implement. High level of computer competency (MS suite, Atlassian suite).
