An entry requirement for employment with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is that you must be an Australian citizen. As a Combat Engineer, you'll experience adventure and excitement outside the everyday. You'll train as a specialist in military field engineering and learn a variety of transferable trade and combat-related skills. There is no lack of variety in this role. One day you could find yourself constructing temporary roads, bypasses or fords. Then the next, you could be the operating rafts and ferries. You will learn a range of skills, including how to operate a chainsaw, conduct demolition tasks and clear a minefield. Combat Engineers also play an important role during high-risk weather seasons and can be deployed on domestic operations to assist local state authorities. Initial training length will vary based on your chosen role, after which you will normally be expected to serve between 20 and 100 days per year.
