Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary objective: Provide information, advice, and education to government, industry, and the public on workers compensation matters.
Responsible for ensuring that accurate and comprehensive data and information is available to assist decision-making processes within industry and government.Context statement: NT WorkSafe is a division of the Department of Attorney-General and Justice responsible for assisting businesses and workers in understanding their obligations under workers rehabilitation and compensation, work health and safety (WHS), dangerous goods, and electrical safety legislation in the Northern Territory.Key duties and responsibilities:Using internal guidance material and corporate advisory material respond to verbal and written requests for information from workers, government, employers, insurers, and the public on workers compensation legislative provisions, preparing written responses as required.Receive compensation claims and code data in accordance with Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO), Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), and Type of Occurrence Classification System 3rd Edition (TOOCS) coding principles and protocols.Interpret claim information to determine the agency and mechanism of injury and to accurately identify the most serious injury or disease and bodily location.Enter data and coding information into the NT WorkSafe computer system ensuring accuracy.Liaise with employers, insurers, and other government departments to ensure all relevant data is supplied and seek additional information and clarify inconsistencies if required.Maintain the quality and integrity of scheme information using various reports to identify exceptions, making judgements about validity, and correcting as required.Provide written approval to insurers to cancel policies in accordance with guidelines.Assist with the mediation service and permanent impairment reassessment functions to ensure continuity of those services.Selection criteria:Essential:Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills with members of the public while displaying a high degree of integrity and tact.Demonstrated ability to understand and explain legislation and guidance materials.Demonstrated ability to understand the principles of coding and the ability to apply sound analytical skills to achieve consistent and accurate interpretations when coding.Demonstrated ability to apply sound contemporary oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, exercise discretion, initiative, flexibility, and confidentiality.Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications and general office technology.Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.Desirable:A sound knowledge and understanding of the Return-to-Work legislation.Demonstrated ability to correctly apply the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO), Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), and Type of Occurrence Classification System 3rd Edition (TOOCS) coding principles and protocols.#J-18808-Ljbffr
