Coal Technician - Mount Thorley

Job DescriptionSGS is seeking a full-time Coal Technician to join our team at Mount Thorley, NSW.This role's primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and high-quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for both internal and external customers.Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:Ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.Always maintain a safety-aware environment.Follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions under supervision.Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including: Sampling, Collection, Preparation, Analysis, Reporting and Validation of samples from automatic sample stations, and other samples, as required.Other tasks and duties, as required and as directed by supervisor or management.QualificationsCoal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferredPrevious experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferredSuccessful completion of Year 10 secondary education with science background or equivalent (preferred)Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferredGood computer skills Excel beneficialCompletion of a numeracy, writing and comprehension testCurrent full drivers license (green p plates by approval).
