The Role We're looking for someone who is passionate about Youth Mental Health to fill the vacant position of Clinician. The position sits within our headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) Continuing Care Team at our Joondalup office. hEP is an innovative initiative funded by the Australian Government (Department of Health) designed to provide early intervention, responsive and recovery focused care for young people aged 12-25 years who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis or are at ultra-high risk of experiencing psychosis.
Duties Provide case management (both in clinic and outreach) within a community based multidisciplinary team (Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists). Assess and treat 12–25-year-olds experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of psychosis. Administer clinical interventions with a focus on "least restrictive practice" and upholding principles of the Mental Health Act (WA) 2014. Provide care coordination (psychosocial, psychiatry appointments, metabolic and other physical health screening), individualised clinical treatments and family support. Provide crisis interventions and manage risk within an established clinical framework. Facilitate functional recovery by incorporating in-house Peer Support, Family Peer Support, Family Therapy, Vocational Education services into the young person's care plan. Case Managers will be required to work weekdays, with occasional evening shifts (11am-7pm). About You (Selection Criteria) Possess the relevant tertiary qualifications (Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist) with AHPRA or AASW membership. Have demonstrated experience or knowledge in community mental health assessment, treatment, crisis intervention and risk assessment/management. Have demonstrated experience or knowledge of case management skills including clinical documentation and case formulation. Possess high level of interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), problem-solving and negotiation skills and ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with team members and external agencies. Desirable Experience in delivering therapeutic clinical interventions. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014. Experience in working with complex clients experiencing psychosis in an outreach model. Requirements for Employment A current National Police Clearance. A current Working with Children's Check. A current Western Australian driver's license. The right to work in Australia.
