Our Mission is to bring together world-class researchers to develop new ideas, treatments and better health outcomes for people with respiratory disease.
Within the Institute sits the Clinical Trials Unit, one of Australia's largest respiratory trials clinics. The Institute coordinates clinical trials across two sites, the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Nedlands and the ICON Cancer Centre in Midland.
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Trials Operations Manager to supervise our Nedlands team. The position is a fixed-term, full-time position for 12 months with the possibility of extension (parental leave).
About the Role The Clinical Trials Operations Manager will assist the Head of Clinical Trials overseeing the management, operations, and professional development of the Clinical Trials team. This includes the supervision of clinical trial staff, coordination of clinical trial activities, and the oversight of administrative, ethics, and data management functions. This also includes the management of relationships with other collaborators within the hospital.
Selection Criteria (Education, Knowledge and Skills required): A tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Nursing and professional registration with AHPRA or relevant health-related qualification and/or experience in the field of clinical trials. Demonstrated excellent leadership skills either as a line manager or as a mentor/trainer to a Clinical Trial Nurse/Coordinator role. Ability to oversee and/or undertake clinical trial activity, including patient-facing roles and relationships with sponsors and industry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with excellent time management. Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills to effectively handle challenges that arise during trials. Highly proficient in data management skills. Proven highly developed delegation skills and staff coaching skills. Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical trial regulations with a current GCP certificate. Appointment Prerequisites National Police Clearance. Provision of the minimum identity proofing requirements. Staff must comply with, including Operational Directive 0388/12 "Health Care Worker Immunisation Policy" (issued under the Public Health Policy Framework), or its replacement.
