About The Service The Surgical Services unit at John Hunter Hospital is a critical part of our healthcare system, encompassing various administrative and support roles essential to the smooth operation of our Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and busy 32 Bed Neurosurgery/neurology ward. As the Clinical Support Officer, you will work alongside our Neurosurgery and Neurology team of Nurses, Doctors, and Allied Health Staff. This role will job share and work in a shared office with the Neurology Case manager.

The work environment within the Surgical Services unit is dynamic and fast-paced, reflecting the busy nature of a major hospital. New team members are welcomed with a comprehensive induction and training program, including face-to-face and online training, and are paired with a mentor to ensure a smooth transition into their roles.

About The Role This position requires working 5 days a fortnight, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The standard shift is from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, but the NUM is flexible if you need to attend appointments. Occasionally, you may be asked to cover ward clerk duties, which is a 7:00 am to 3:30 pm shift; however, if this timing is not feasible, the 8:30 am to 5:00 pm shift is acceptable. The role is dynamic with a variety of tasks each day, including but not limited to:
Healthroster Salary and Wages WHS Reports Smartaviewer Iprocurement Stafflink (checking leave and staff contracts) Follow-up phone calls ChemAlert My Health Learning (submitting in-services and pulling staff reports) Safety walks Preparing death packs AFM Filing Single bed report Cleaning storerooms Replacing staffing IPM About You You are proactive and have a high level of initiative and administration skills.
