VCID No.897532 About our Department: Based at Perth Children's Hospital, our dedicated team provide a state-wide service to children aged 0–16 years, and their families, according to cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs, including both inpatients and outpatients.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, we deliver holistic and integrated psychological care aimed at improving outcomes for children with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and complex medical needs, including when mental health challenges affect their engagement with medical treatment.
We also provide crucial support and education to families as they navigate the challenges and impact of the child's illness, disability or hospitalisation, and collaborate with schools to develop tailored strategies and accommodations to support the child at home and in community settings.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we actively participate in innovative research, education and comprehensive clinical training to continually enhance the quality of care provided.
Position Profile We are excited to announce an opening for aClinical Psychologistwithin our newly establishedDepartment Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the evolution of our service and grow within a dynamic healthcare setting.
Reporting to the Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology, you will develop integrated care plans, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical care that is responsive to the needs of our patients.
You will assess, provide intervention, and consult on a diverse range of paediatric inpatient and outpatient cases, addressing cognitive, emotional, and functional challenges to enhance the overall well-being of the child and their family.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, actively participating in multidisciplinary teams (MDT) to deliver holistic patient care in collaboration with medical specialists, nursing, and other allied health professionals.
Your responsibilities will include:

Working collaboratively within MDT settings across various departments.Developing and adapting care plans for children with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and complex medical needs under the primary care of paediatricians or surgeons.Actively participating in departmental meetings, case presentations, conferences, research, benchmarking, education, and development activities, aiming to enhance service delivery and contribute to the broader field of rehabilitation psychology.Providing mentorship, supervision, and training to junior staff and contribute to the professional development within the department and broader clinical community.Developing intervention and group programs within the psychology team.Liaising with community agencies and contributing to the ongoing mapping and analysis of caseloads, referrals, and service demands to inform future staffing and departmental growth.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in provision of clinical psychology therapies and assessments, and with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop clinical programs and initiatives. Prior experience within a tertiary setting is desirable.

Please note a Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology and eligibility for full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is a requirement for this role. Relevant experience in working with children and families will be highly regarded however applicants with relevant experience adult care will be provided the opportunity for support and education to translate your knowledge to a paediatric setting.
