Benefits Hours of work 8am to 4.21pm Monday to Friday (1 hour unpaid lunch), with overtime penalties for contributing to reduced hour shifts on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and on-call service Opportunity to fly with the Royal Flying Doctor Service to be the sole Pharmacist at Tennant Creek Hospital for a week, with additional allowances Up to $2000 reimbursement for economy flight to Alice Springs SIX weeks of paid annual recreation leave, plus leave loading Salary sacrifice approximately an additional $9 000 Professional Development Allowance up to $660 per full year of service as at 1 Jan On-site accommodation may be available for a nominal rent, subject to availability Paid study leave days available after 6 months of service for salaried employees 6 month clinical rotations Pharmacists working in Alice Springs are eligible for the 8CPA funding to support costs associated with travel and accommodation to attend professional development activities Promotional information We take life-work balance seriously. The pharmacy is a modern and progressive department which employs 19 pharmacists, 1 intern pharmacist and 10 pharmacy technicians. Services provided include ward based clinical and drug information services to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek Hospitals, as well as in-patient and out-patient dispensing, and non-sterile manufacturing as well as providing medicines and advice to remote health clinics in the NT, WA, SA and QLD border. Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is the major referral hospital for Central Australia, serving a population of more than 42,000 people in an area exceeding a million square kilometers, covering more than 60 per cent of the Northern Territory and extending into the bordering areas of South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia. The hospital has more than 65,000 admissions annually, caring for some of the nation's most vulnerable people, with high levels of morbidity and mortality and many with conditions rarely seen elsewhere in the country. The medicine is diverse and complex with a prevalence of rheumatic heart disease, bronchiectasis, chronic liver, and renal disease, along with diabetes in a young population with a median age of just 34. Alice Springs Hospital is a 207-bed facility providing a general range of secondary, and some tertiary, inpatient, outpatient and specialist services, including a renal dialysis centre catering for more than 400 patients.
