The opportunity:
As a clinician working in the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS), you will provide a broad range drug alcohol assessments and interventions to individuals, their families and groups in the context of minimising harm from substance use within the Townsville geographical area.
Provision of outreach services may include North Ward, Kirwan, Vincent and other locations within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. This role supports consumers who are of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander culture or who are engaged with Queensland Corrective Services. The role supports consumers who also may be engaged with the Queensland Opiate Treatment Program (QOTP).
What we are looking for?: Comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment. Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes. Provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving. Demonstrate knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire the knowledge of signs and symptoms of substance intoxication/withdrawal and ability to implement appropriate interventions according to Consumers stage of change under a harm minimisation framework within the context of the National Drug Strategy, appropriate underpinning Alcohol and other Drug Withdrawal Guidelines and the Queensland Opiate Treatment Program Guidelines. Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team under clinical practice supervision or more senior practitioners. Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills and ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a wide range of individuals and diverse populations, families, communities, collaborative partners and other service providers. Demonstrated ability of cultural considerations that may be required when working with consumers/ families or communities who identify as Aboriginal and/ or Torres strait islander. Requirements Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.  Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be well regarded While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded. Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster. Drivers Licence: This position requires the applicant to have a C Class motor vehicle licence and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella,and Pertussis. Please refer to the Role Description for further details. Generous pro rata remuneration package (value up to $11,024 p.m. comprising:
Salary range of $4138.10 to $4431.10 p.f (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1) Annual leave with 17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
