With over 1,200 schools spanning across the state of Queensland, the Department of Education (DoE) is one of the largest public sector providers, supporting all state school students to meet their educational needs. The department are seeking applications from motivated Registered Nurses to join great teams of multi-disciplinary professionals.
About the School: Townsville Community Learning Centre is a state special school catering for students from Prep to Year 12 who have a verified Intellectual Disability. At TCLC we pride ourselves on providing rich, engaging learning experiences for all of our students. Students from Prep to year 10 access the Australian Curriculum in all key learning areas. The school has a comprehensive Whole-School Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (WSCARF). All students in P-10 have Individual Curriculum Plans aligned to the WSCARF.
Your Role: State schools registered nurses play a pivotal role in connecting schools with health specialists to create a safe supportive environment for students with health needs. Using advanced critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, they provide tailored services to primary, secondary and special schools breaking down barriers to enhance wellbeing and bridging the gap between health care and education.
Other Responsibilities:
Form strategic partnerships with schools, health professionals and families as part of a multi-disciplinary teamBuild school staff health support confidence through in-service education and training scenariosSupport capability building, curriculum planning, resource development and school improvement initiativesDevelop evidence informed methodology to effectively implement across Queensland state schoolsDevelop individual and emergency health plans to support students in education settingsConsult stakeholders to enhance professional decision making and nursing practicesMaintain and build safe, quality, effective nursing professional networksForm partnerships with other health professionals to improve collaborative practiceAnalyse policies, procedures, legislation, codes and standards to continuously improve service deliveryProvide High level consultation and ensure students, parents/carers, and staff are part of the decision making at every stageActively participate in professional development and reflective practice across a multi-disciplinary sector that values your contributionWhat you can expect in return:
