Role Overview: Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this vital role leads a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health staff in the provision of inpatient oncology services.
The successful applicant will provide individualised, case managed complex patient/client care and leadership for cancer care clinical practice and service delivery within Forster Private Hospital to maximise the health outcomes for the patient/client.
Key Accountabilities: Use advanced clinical skills to assess, plan, organise, evaluate and deliver specialist high quality nursing care in order to achieve individual clinical outcomes for each cancer care/oncology patient/client.Provide specialised best practice specialty nursing/midwifery care within professional boundaries and in accordance with ANCSI competencies, legal and ethical parameters and Healthecare policies and procedures.Exercise professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.Leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery in Forster Private Cancer Care and Oncology, and Forster Private Hospital.Assist with the development of less experienced practitioners and other health care team members by providing support, guidance and direction.Contribute to the development of specialised education for complex clinical issues for patients/clients/carers and the community.Support and inform patients/clients and their families to ensure clinical interventions and service delivery processes are understood.Liaise with other senior nursing and midwifery roles working within the specialty.Assist Oncologists in clinic time to support patient education and care pathways.Advocate for private care provision representing best practice.Participate in relevant patient safety and quality education and delivery services in accordance with the National Patient Safety and Quality Standards.Perform work in a manner that is safe and does not pose a risk to others, complying with all WHS policies, procedures and education.Report any identified safety matters.Key External Relationships: Community Cancer Care TeamVisiting Medical OfficersSelection Criteria: Current registration with APHRA.Current Working with Children Check.Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance.Post registration qualifications in cancer care (or evidence of working towards) and at least 3 years post registration experience in cancer care nursing.Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and apply a range of options to develop solutions.Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to understand their needs.Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements in clinical service delivery.Demonstrated experience in clinical education.Sound computer literacy in desktop applications and patient management systems.Strong leadership and collaborative interpersonal communication skills.All enquiries should be directed to:
