Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital As the Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be required to provide quality patient care and customer service in the area of specialty, being Colorectal Support. You will provide clinical leadership and clinical consultancy and provide excellence in clinical standards and quality of care through the development of standards of practice. Initiate and integrate research findings into clinical practice.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is required to implement best practice and evidence-based improvements to clinical practice and demonstrate positive role modeling and leadership. In this position, you will support the data integrity for the surgical database and clinical trials and coordinate the care and follow-up of patients with colorectal cancer.
The PositionMaintain advanced clinical skills and knowledge in the area of colorectal surgery.Provide counselling/education/advice to patients and significant others in the pre and post-operative period. Develop education resources and arrange specialised education as required.Ensure patients, their families, and carers have access to information about relevant hospital and community services. Facilitate referral as appropriate.Coordinate patient follow-up including ongoing review and investigations.Provide advanced patient care problem-solving and guidance within the area of colorectal surgery to educate and support nursing caregivers in their clinical decision-making.Promote and facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care, including MDT meetings.Provide clinical leadership and clinical consultancy to the multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance and direction to resolve patient management issues.Develop, implement, and evaluate relevant clinical standards and policies using an evidence-based approach.Initiate and implement research-based nursing practice in areas of clinical specialty.In conjunction with LOD, develop, implement, and evaluate in-service education for caregivers.Recommend and implement strategies designed to improve the quality of patient care in terms of management of patients undergoing colorectal surgery.You will currently be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and hold a post-registration qualification in Cancer Care or Colorectal surgical management. You will have extensive knowledge post-registration experience, with the ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and advanced clinical skills along with the ability to plan, develop, and implement educational programs for patients and caregivers. You will have demonstrated leadership qualities and a commitment to working effectively within the interdisciplinary team environment.
To succeed in this position, you will have the ability to integrate research and best practice outcomes into standards of practice, hold high-level communication and interpersonal skills, along with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, advanced negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to quality patient care and customer satisfaction is essential to be successful in this role.
