Clinical Nurse - Community Palliative Care Short term contract (June 2025 with potential for permanent) Part Time – Up to 8 days (60.8 hrs) per fortnight negotiable Above Award rate + 11% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowance About Karuna Karuna Hospice Services (Karuna) was founded in 1992 by Venerable Pende Hawter, a Buddhist monk with a vision to provide no cost, community palliative care in the home, to help alleviate the fear and suffering that comes with dying, for people of all denominations and spiritual beliefs and their families.
For over 30 years Karuna has consistently delivered quality specialist palliative care in homes across Brisbane north and has become a trusted brand offering unique, values-based care, founded on Buddhist principles of kindness and compassion.
Karuna's vision is of world where people with life limiting illness live well and die peacefully.
Our goal is to enable people and their families to access appropriate support and of their choosing, tailored to them in 2024 and beyond.
About the role Karuna is growing its service offering specifically in the Caboolture and Bribie Island regions, so that the residents of these areas have greater choice and access to responsive, in-home specialist palliative care.
We are seeking a values driven, autonomous and experienced clinical nurse to join our multidisciplinary specialist, in-home palliative care team to support residents of the Caboolture and Bribie Island areas.
This role is being offered initially as a short-term contract until June 2025, with the view of permanency if the service demand and growth for these areas progresses as predicted.
As part of the Karuna team you will Work as part of a truly integrated, multidisciplinary team to achieve people-centred, quality outcomes for the residents of Caboolture and Bribie Island. Provide advanced clinical practice and leadership in best practice palliative nursing care to achieve quality outcomes for clients and carers in their homes. Manage complex symptoms and enhance the ability of the client and their carers to achieve their end-of-life goals of care, in a true people-centred manner. Support clients and their carers by contributing to the 24 hour on-call service roster as part of the team. Attributes Have a strong personal alignment with Karuna's values and relish the opportunity to practice these as part of your daily clinical care. Demonstrated clinical proficiency in advanced palliative care. Demonstrated skills and abilities to apply extended practice competencies within a scope of practice that is both autonomous and collaborative. High level of interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to effectively engage and collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team and external health care providers. Demonstrated skills in assisting with coordination and development of multidisciplinary palliative care teams. High level of skills to provide a safe, advanced standard of healthcare and services, identify and manage clinical risk as applicable to the role, and participate in continuous improvement. Requirements for the role Registered Nurse with equivalent of (3) year's full-time experience in an advanced practice nursing role within specialty settings – palliative care, oncology, and/or aged care. Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Current QLD Type C class driver's licence. Post-graduate qualifications in palliative care, oncology, or aged care desirable (but not essential). It is a requirement for all Clinical Nurse staff to participate in the on-call roster. Karuna operates a 24 Hour on-call care service to clients. The roster is non-cyclical and includes rostered on-call. Based on Karuna Policy and Government Directives, you will be required to provide evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 to commence employment with Karuna Hospice Services.
