Seeking a passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our dynamic Medication Safety team.
The Role: The CNC - Medication Safety will:
Take a lead role in the development and promotion of safe medication practices, working as a key team member of the Safe Medication Practice team to improve the safety and efficiency of patient care.Work with a significant degree of autonomy under the broad direction provided by the Nursing Director - Safe Medication Practice.Work in the Safe Medication Practice Unit, a subunit of the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy service; however, will be expected to maintain very close relationships with the other regional based Medication Safety members, forming part of the greater statewide team.Promote and facilitate the advancement of evidenced-based practice in relation to medication safety within the clinical setting.Support hospital-wide and statewide multidisciplinary activities and programs that improve medication safety.Develop and implement clinical policy and guidelines with regards to National guidelines, legislated governance and National Clinical Standards and best practice in relation to medication safety.Provide high-level medication safety practice development, education and strategies in collaboration with the clinical workforce to achieve best health care outcomes.Work as part of a statewide multidisciplinary team that supports the advancement of Safe Medication Practices.You will need: Demonstrated high-level clinical expertise and competence in medication safety, with an understanding of the related safety principles that ensure optimal health service outcomes.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement and clinical risk management activities.Demonstrated track record of success in implementing multidisciplinary medication safety initiatives.Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and proven ability to educate, influence and be credible to a range of health care clinicians and consumers.Demonstrated ability to apply acquired knowledge and utilisation of research/evidence in the practice environment to achieve quality patient outcomes.The Team: The Safe Medication Practice Unit team sits under Statewide Hospital Pharmacy as a multidisciplinary team consisting of Pharmacists, nurses and a medical lead who champion medication safety in the THS by empowering the healthcare team and consumers through the following measures:
Advancing medication safety through a just culture.Collaborating to identify opportunities for quality system improvement from medication-related incidents, near-misses and adverse drug events.Keeping abreast of national and international improvement strategies for enhancing safe medication practice.Supporting the implementation of evidence-based medication safety practices.Details of appointment: Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $111,506 to $118,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum.Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.Benefits available to eligible candidates: Professional development and accelerated pathways.Excellent leave benefits: 20 days annual leave (pro rata), 20 days personal leave (pro rata), and study assistance leave if eligible.Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
