About the role
Permanent full time opportunity to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to perinatal wellbeing.
This role will:

Collaborate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and families experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mild to moderate emotional and mental health concerns during the perinatal period.
Provide culturally safe perinatal assessment, risk management and referrals that recognise and address the impacts of intergenerational trauma, racism and historical contexts on mental health and family wellbeing.
Recognise the unique culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, which influence the provision of holistic multidisciplinary integrated care.
Provide advanced clinical expertise and care ensuring that women and families are central to and actively involved in their care.
Work proactively to ensure that women and families can access the supports and services they want and need.
Provide support to members of the PWT, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and community engagement officers.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing/midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
Demonstrate advanced specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills in perinatal mental health examinations and assessment and documentation.
Demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem-solving skills and expert clinical judgement in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumer/persons and non-acute mental health assessment.
Responsible for the professional development of self and others utilising contemporary practice in the delivery of improved standards of care.
